WEEK ONE
Tracking before spending
Conversion tracking for forms, calls and WhatsApp enquiries goes in before any campaign launches. Without it you are flying blind, and every later decision is a guess dressed up as strategy.
Running ads is easy. Running ads that produce enquiries at a price your business can afford is the part most accounts get wrong. Usually the budget is not the problem — the targeting, the tracking, or the page the ad points to is.
WHERE THE BUDGET GOES
These come up in almost every account audit, and none of them require more budget to fix.
Google's default keyword settings are deliberately loose. A plumber bidding on "plumber Panchkula" can end up paying for "plumber salary", "plumbing course" and "plumber jobs". Every one of those clicks costs the same as a real customer. Tightening match types and building a negative keyword list often cuts wasted spend by a third before anything else changes.
If conversion tracking is not set up, Google optimises for clicks, because clicks are all it can see. It will faithfully find you the cheapest possible clicks from people who will never call. Tracking form submissions and phone calls changes what the algorithm chases, and it is the single highest-impact fix in most accounts.
An ad promising same-day AC repair should land on a page about same-day AC repair, not a homepage listing eight services. Every extra decision between the click and the enquiry loses people. This is usually the difference between a campaign that breaks even and one that works.
Setting location targeting to all of Haryana when you serve Panchkula and Pinjore means competing with Gurgaon budgets for clicks you cannot service. Tight geographic targeting is one of the few genuine advantages a local business has over a national competitor.
HOW THE ACCOUNT IS RUN
WEEK ONE
Conversion tracking for forms, calls and WhatsApp enquiries goes in before any campaign launches. Without it you are flying blind, and every later decision is a guess dressed up as strategy.
STRUCTURE
Campaigns split by service and location so budget can be moved towards whatever is producing. Negative keyword lists built from day one and reviewed weekly against the actual search terms report.
LANDING
Each campaign points at a page written for that specific search, with one obvious action. We build these as part of the engagement rather than pointing paid traffic at a general homepage.
REPORTING
Monthly reporting on spend, enquiries and cost per enquiry, in language you can act on. If a campaign is not paying for itself, you will be told to pause it rather than sold a bigger budget.
BEFORE YOU SPEND ANYTHING
If nobody is searching for what you sell, ads will not create demand. Google Ads captures existing intent. A genuinely new product category often does better on Meta, where you can interrupt people rather than wait for them to search.
If your margin per customer is small and the click cost in your category is high, the arithmetic may never work. That is worth calculating honestly before launching, not three months and a lakh of spend later.
If enquiries currently go unanswered for a day, fix that first. Paid traffic makes an unresponsive sales process more expensive, not more profitable.
COMMON QUESTIONS
For a local service business targeting Panchkula and nearby areas, a monthly ad budget below roughly ₹15,000 rarely produces enough clicks to learn anything reliable. Google needs a certain volume of data before its bidding works properly, and below that threshold you are paying for guesswork. Budget is separate from management fees, and the ad spend goes directly to Google, not to us.
Ads buy placement immediately and stop the moment you stop paying. SEO earns placement slowly and keeps working after the work is done. Ads suit businesses that need enquiries this month, or that want to test whether an offer converts before investing in content. Most businesses eventually run both.
The three usual causes are broad keyword matching showing ads for unrelated searches, no conversion tracking so the campaign optimises towards clicks rather than enquiries, and a landing page that does not match what the ad promised. All three are visible in an audit within about an hour, and all three are fixable without increasing budget.
Search gives more control over which searches trigger your ad, which suits local service businesses with a small budget and a clear keyword list. Performance Max spreads spend across Google's whole network and needs more budget and conversion data to work well, so it fits e-commerce or accounts already generating steady conversions. Starting with Search and adding Performance Max later is usually safer.
You should insist on this with any agency, including us. Campaigns run inside an account owned by you, with manager access granted to us that you can revoke at any time. The account history, conversion data and campaign structure stay with your business.
Give us view access to your existing account and we will send back a recorded walkthrough of where the money is going and what we would change. Free, and useful even if you never hire us.
